We’re an inclusive social LawTech start-up on a mission
to deliver access to law to everyone. We are not another
platform copycat, we’re not here to deliver more of the same.
We want to deliver something new, something disruptive,
something with real impact on people.
If you’re looking to be part of a fast-paced and growing
tech start-up in consumer legal services, fed-up with
hearing more of the same, then maybe we’re a match!
We’re still forming our culture and we want our new team
to create this together, but we’ve got our goals and
our mission, which we want your help to deliver.
Here at Legal Utopia, our mission is clear and simple: to make law affordable and accessible to everyone.
We operate an Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy and welcome applications from absolutely anyone and everyone.

We’re not a stuffy firm. We’re a team of individuals working
together towards a joint objective. If wearing a shirt
and tie isn’t you, don’t wear one. We invite everyone
coming to a job interview to wear what’s comfortable,
what expresses who you are and what you enjoy.
We interview to get to know each other and we expect that
first interviews take around 30 minutes with a senior
staff member, regardless of the position. If we think
you’re potentially a good fit, you may be invited back
to another interview, this is to explore your skillset,
attributes and qualifications in a more in-depth interview
that may take upto 45 minutes. This will usually take
place with a senior staff member and one other member
you would be working with.
When we’re recruiting we’re looking for the ideal candidate that can not only fulfil the job description but emerge and merge with our existing team, here’s our top six attributes:
What we’ve come to need and expect from candidates is a combination of values that are reflective of the work we do and the way we do it. Here are the top six values we respect and desire:
The world of work is not just about delivering for your
employer but what your employer can deliver for you.
We’re on an exciting path and that creates some awesome
opportunities, projects and collaborations that help our
employees’ careers excel.
Past employees have gone on to work for companies like:
Macfarlanes, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, White & Case, Bramble,
Stephenson Harwood, Al Tamimi & Company and Amazon to name a few
Legal Utopia has been one of many technology start-ups
leading the way on the application of machine learning to law,
but we’re one of few to focus on people and not big business.
We’ve been highly collaborative working with international law firms,
regulators, universities, and government at both a national and local level.
Our collaborative approach has been highly successful in
completing first-of-its-kind research into the application of
supervised learning classifiers in unstructured, non-exhaustive
training datasets with our method patent on legal corporus classifiers
charging our solution forwards. We believe our collaborations have
generated new market solutions that can impact the way people
search, use, interact and consume legal services.
Legal Utopia has built a modest network of alike thinkers but most importantly doers that report on their actions and not their intentions. We’ve grown as a business to value action over words, which means when we share our network with you, you’re connecting with a network that will do what they say they’re going to do and, with enthusiasm, achieve new things.
Legal Utopia has collaborated with, or been supported by,
some of the biggest names in the legal world, including Baker McKenzie,
Dentons, Norton Rose Fulbright, Mischon de Reya, and Travers Smith.
We’ve also taken a collaborative approach with UK regulators
working with the Information Commissioner’s Office, Financial
Conduct Authority, and Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Legal Utopia has been recognised and accelerated by a range of high-profile accelerators, pilots, and incubators in the UK and US. We’ve been part of the Barclays LawTech Incubator, Wayra UK Accelerator, Google Digital Accelerator, London & Partners Programme, TechNation’s LawTech UK Sandbox, FCA Innovation Hub, SRA Customer Reviews Pilot and the Founders Embassy Accelerator.
Legal Utopia’s leading projects have been financially supported
by some of the UK’s best known local and national government
innovation funders including Innovate UK, The City of London Corporation,
Department of Work & Pensions and Kent County Council, alongside
funding programmes by the Treasury and the European Regional Development Fund.
Legal Utopia’s also received funding administered by Telefonica
and the University of Edinburgh, as well as Anglia Ruskin University
in addition to private investments from highly experienced
lawyers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
This builds on the independent recognition of the different
and progressive way in which Legal Utopia approaches utilising
data and technology to drive new ways of delivering legal
services in the UK. Joining Legal Utopia means being a
part of progress and change and, most importantly, being
recognised for it.
